WS2 is the chemical formula of tungsten disulfide, which is a chemical compound comprising tungsten and sulfur. This inorganic compound is found in the nature as tungstenite, from which the WS2 dry lube can be obtained. Some of its properties are similar to that of molybdenum disulfide, for which it can be used as a dry lubricant. It is now also created through synthetic means, to meet its huge demand in several industries.

• WS2 has the lowest friction coefficient among all solid lubricants available in the market now. Thus, it can reduce the friction between two surfaces to a maximum limit, making machines move much speedily. Its friction coefficient is only 0.03 for dynamic friction and 0.07 for static friction.
• WS2 is known for excellent non-stick property, as it does not react chemically with other materials. Thus, it can be safely used on all types of substrates just for lubricating their surfaces.
• WS2 is non-toxic in nature and it is absolutely safe for use even on cookware. It is also used on machines needed in food processing industries.
• Particles of WS2 are extremely small, forming a thin coating of only ½ micron. Hence, WS2 can be used in forming uniform coating over machines, due to the fineness of its particles.
• The layer of WS2 over machine surface can withstand the pressure of loads up to 300,000 psi. Thus, it is an ideal choice for lubricating heavy-duty machines.
• WS2 can withstand very high temperatures, making it a perfect lubricant for machines that release huge amounts of heat energy or need more heat for operations.
• No binder is needed to stick the layer of WS2 on substrates while many powdered lubricants need binders for sticking on their substrate surfaces.
• However, WS2 cannot peel off the substrate easily as it can strongly adhere to the surface layer of the substrate. So, chips or flakes of this lubricant cannot be seen coming off the machine surfaces.
No other liquid lubricant is needed for the maintenance of machines when WS2 used for that purpose. The best technology is used to coat machines with WS2, to make them smoothly functional.
